Baby #2

I haven't posted in forever...almost one and a half years to be exact.  It's not that nothing has happened during this past 18 months...in fact it's quite the opposite.  So much has happened and kept us so busy that it's been hard to find the time to get on here and post it.  Today seemed like the right day to begin again.

40 weeks and 5 days ago, Jason and I were delighted (and a bit surprised) to discover that we were pregnant with our second child.  After much anticipation, it seems that the day has finally arrived to meet this little bugger.  He/she has been stubborn, just like Eli was, and was waiting for just the right time to arrive fashionably late.  My contractions started at about 3:00 this morning and woke me up right away.  At first, I was second guessing myself wondering if my mind and body were just playing tricks on me.  I didn't want to wake Jason as he was sleeping so peacefully, so I waited for an hour just checking to see if they would continue.  I had about 10 contractions in that first hour.  I was actually trying to fall back asleep for a while knowing that today would be long and hard, but who can fall asleep at a time like this?  Certainly not me!  So I decided that I would wake Jason up and tell him what had been going on.  He, like me, was very excited that it wouldn't be yet another morning where we wake up and say "come on baby, not again!"  We drifted in and out of sleep for the next couple of hours until now when I felt it was time to call into work and say that I would officially not be in today.

So, as of right now, contractions are still very easy and far apart.  Nothing regular or difficult about them.  In fact, I'm still second guessing my body, but this is the first sign of labor I've had with this pregnancy, so I'm going to go with it.  We'll keep posting on here as things progress.  I'm so very excited, I just couldn't wait :)
