Projects, Projects, Projects

What can I say, I haven't had time to blog in a week because we've been so busy with projects lately. We've had such great help! In the past week or so, here's what we've accomplished:

Last weekend Dad and Lee came up and helped us get started on a few things. Dad and Jason worked on ripping out the closets in the mudroom to make room for a new first floor laundry room. This project was high on our priority list because my washing machine and drier were taking up valuable room in my kitchen! Also, the drier wasn't vented, which means that every time I ran the drier, all the hot, moist air just got pushed right into the house. I can tell you that this was a BIG pain the past few days because of the hot temps in the '90s! The laundry has been piling up because I've been reluctant to do it during the day and get the already hot house even more hot and sticky! Luckily, Jason and Dad saved the day! Just yesterday, they got the drier vented and moved into its new home in the laundry room. It's not a completed project yet, but just having that drier moved is a BIG start! Here are some before pictures of the kitchen and the mud room:
And here are some of the "after" pictures from of where the drier used to be and where it is now:
Also, we got a nice polished look to our front porch when Dad and Lee gave us our housewarming gift of 2 new rocking chairs. We just love sitting on the front porch in the morning drinking coffee and saying "hello" to the neighbors!
Some other projects that got accomplished this week were done with Mom. After helping me paint the kitchen, she reverted me back to my days in high school with some lessons in sewing. She taught me how to sew some new curtains to go with my newly painted kitchen and copper backsplash. We worked for two days, and I have to say, they turned out pretty great! We had some fun mother/daughter time to boot! Everyone has been such a great help to us so far! Thanks for all of your love and support as we tackle all of these projects!

  1. Tiff,

The kitchen looks great - love the copper back-
splash. You and your Mom did a great job painting, and the curtains are really pretty.
We can't wait to get up there and see the house. It'll be fun to watch you guys as you make it your own. Glad you're feeling well, except for being tired. We can't wait for this new bundle of joy to come into all of our lives. You guys will be great parents.
See you in a couple days.

    Love, Sharon (Mom)
