A couple days at home...

Well, we've been home now for 2 days and we are beginning to adjust to our new reality.  Baby Eli is doing his best to let us know what he needs and we are doing our best to listen and learn his cries and mannerisms.  We certainly won't claim to have figured many things out but we feel like we are certainly making big progress.  Momma is starting to get her legs under her and is slowly scaling back her pain meds and beginning to get used to her "new" baby free body.  Daddy is learning how to attend to momma and baby as best he can, especially seeing as he doesn't have milk producing boobies.  The lack of sleep thing is everything that everyone described to us as well.  We find that we are sleeping in chunks throughout the night and grabbing every opportunity to nap during the day.  All of the uncomfortabilities and frustrations are all completely overriden with every little gassy smile and open eyed gaze.  Our little man is so strong and is already picking his head up and holding it up for a few seconds.

Grammy and Grampa Nicholas have been so incredibly helpful as well.  They are staying with us for the week and have been grocery shopping, doing laundry, making dinner, and giving us the peace of mind of knowing that we can focus on the baby and not managing the house.  Grampa is also taking as many pictures as he can and giving us a history of these early days that will last forever.  Here are a few new pics from the last 2 days...

  5. How's it going now? Are you guys settling in? You have to post pictures because we all know how fast babies change.

Tif, I hope you are getting lots of rest! We've been thinking of you guys and hoping your routine is getting to a place that works with Eli in your home now :)

    Love,
    Cathy
