Progress

We've been moving slowly but surely along with the house renovations. This past weekend, my dad and Lee came and helped us with a new step...tiling the new bathroom floor. This was a project that I had initially intended on doing, but as my belly continues to grow, I am finding it harder and harder to bend and lean like I normally can. Instead, Jason and Dad worked on tiling the floor. They didn't mind the first picture...
But by the second one, they were wondering why I was standing around taking pictures while they were down on their hands and knees laying the annoyingly small tile I had chosen for the floor...
The tile is looking great, though! The two of them worked for a few hours and got about half of the tile layed. Jason worked on it again last night and got a little more down. Only about 1/4 left to go and then on to the grout and sealant!
While the guys were hard at work downstairs, Lee and I were dealing with a fiasco upstairs! The nursery is the only room in the whole house with any wallpaper (thank goodness!). I realized my true appreciation and loathing for everything that stuff stands for as Lee and I attempted to shred the dreaded floral border off the walls. It was only a border! How hard could it be!? Little did we know, that seemingly pleasant flowery exterior harbored the tenacity to hold and not let go! We tried everything...from specialty scrapers to fancy spray on glue releasers, we even went and rented a steamer, but all to no avail. After 3 hours of scraping, steaming, and spraying, we had only managed to loosen about 1/8 of one wall, and there was just no hope of it being a doable job. So, I returned the steamer and promptly headed to Fleet Farm for the third time that day and purchased enough 5 inch crown molding to simply COVER the blasted stuff so I never have to look at it again! Let the painting commence! I began last night, and as soon as I have another coat on and the trim painted, I'll make sure to post some pictures of the new wallpaperless nursery.

Here's Lee working hard at sanding down the walls in preparation for painting...
And here's me, over six months pregnant, climbing on a ladder scraping wallpaper...if only our baby knew!

  1. I like the tile you chose. Too bad it's so tedious to install.
Neat problem solving with the crown molding. That will be really pretty in your house.
