Epidural time...

So Tiff hit a wall and the first pain reliever did not do the trick. She decided that the best thing for her was to get an epidural and try to get some relief. The labor is complicated by a muscle issue that she has during pregnancy. Her muscles lock up in various parts of her body at various times. When they do this, they lock for 5-10 seconds before they release. They can be kind of painful from time to time but this has definitely been a factor in this labor where it wasn't in Eli's for some reason. Either way, it is what it is and it has forced her into bed where she didn't want to be. She had already been laid up for a couple hours before she realized that if she was going to be stuck in bed, she might as well be there with as little pain as possible.

Currently we are at 7cm and things are progressing along well. It has been a bit slow but the contractions are very strong and her body is definitely preparing itself for the baby's arrival. We are talking about maybe breaking her water in a couple hours after the epidural has had time to work its magic. For now, Tiff is resting well in between contractions (she's still feeling a little pain in her left hip). Hopefully she can close her eyes for a short bit and let her body regain a bit of energy before we make the big last push.

More to come!!!

  1. Tiffany you are doing an amazing job. I am so glad you are able to rest between contractions and to get ready to meet your babe. Thanks for the update. I wish I was there to do something :)
